CLARITY Act Delay Sparks Frustration Among Crypto Industry
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (H.R. 3633) has hit a snag in its journey through the Senate, as it's noticeably absent from the latest schedule dated August 3rd.
The bill aims to provide clarity on digital assets and their regulation. Despite being filed earlier this month, there is no cloture petition for CLARITY in the Senate's cloture ledger, indicating that leaders have not made the necessary public moves to push it forward.
Senate leaders could accelerate the process by enacting a unanimous consent agreement or a bipartisan cloture petition. However, widespread support and/or the absence of objections would be required for this to happen.
The crypto industry is growing increasingly frustrated with the delay. Anthony Scaramucci stated that it 'feels like the Republicans don't want the CLARITY Act to pass so that they can blame the Democrats' and seek donations from the industry in the Fall. He urged, 'Put this Bill on the floor.'
