CLARITY Act Faces Critical Senate Vote Amid Regulatory Clarity
The CLARITY Act is set to face a critical Senate vote on September 15, following over a year of legislative work. The bill has been passed by the House with a vote of 294-134 in July 2025 and advanced by the Senate Banking Committee with a 15-9 vote in May 2026.
The CLARITY Act aims to clarify regulatory frameworks for digital assets, addressing one of the industry's longest-running legal uncertainties. It seeks to separate the securities-law treatment of fundraising transactions from the later regulatory status of the token itself.
The bill protects decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols that are truly decentralized, while targeting non-decentralized DeFi protocols with CFTC registration requirements for relevant spot digital-commodity activity.
