CLARITY Act Fails, But Ripple and MicroStrategy Insist Nothing Changes for XRP and Bitcoin

The CLARITY Act failed to pass in the Senate on Tuesday, but Ripple and MicroStrategy argue that this does not change the legal landscape for XRP and Bitcoin.

Stuart Alderoty, Ripple's chief legal officer, pointed out that two significant decisions have already been made regarding XRP. In 2023, a federal court ruled that XRP sales on exchanges were not securities deals. Additionally, in March of this year, the SEC and CFTC jointly listed XRP as a digital commodity.

Alderoty emphasized that 'Ripple and XRP stand on settled ground,' referencing these previous rulings.

MicroStrategy made a similar case for Bitcoin, stating that it has had 'legal and regulatory clarity in the U.S. for years.'
