CLARITY Act Fails to Clear Senate Hurdle Amid Bipartisan Stalemate

Share

After last-minute bipartisan negotiations fell through, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY) hit a roadblock in the US Senate. The bill, which aimed to bring clarity and regulation to the crypto industry, failed to advance due to a lack of votes needed for it to move forward.

Despite this setback, Coinbase co-founder Brian Armstrong expressed optimism that the bill could be revisited. However, he acknowledged that the industry 'cannot wait' for Congress to act and emphasized that the SEC and CFTC already have enough authority to establish clear rules.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse was more critical of the outcome, calling it a 'sting' and blaming Democratic politics for elevating an 'anti-crypto army'. He also called for a post-mortem analysis of the bill's failure.
