Clarity Act Fails to Pass Senate Vote, Crypto Markets Plummet
Crypto markets plummeted on September 15 after the long-awaited Clarity Act failed to pass a Senate vote. The act, which aimed to provide a clear framework for crypto regulation in the US, required 60 votes to pass but only received 49.
As a result, Bitcoin (BTC) fell 4.7% to $75,758.66, Ethereum (ETH) dropped 7.6% to $2,398.80, and Solana (SOL) slid 6.5% to $96.71. The total crypto market cap also declined by 3.7% to $2.68 trillion.
Many investors had hoped the Clarity Act would bring clarity to the industry, particularly in areas like stablecoins and real-world asset tokenization. However, its failure may slow down momentum in the coming months.
