CLARITY Act Failure Boosts Stablecoins and Exchanges

Share

Bitwise's CIO Matt Hougan believes that the failure of the CLARITY Act to pass the US Senate has been a blessing in disguise for the cryptocurrency industry. Despite expectations of severe impact, crypto prices actually moved higher after the bill stalled.

Hougan argues that stablecoins, exchanges, tokenized platforms, and buyback tokens have benefited from the lack of regulation. He notes that stablecoin issuers can now offer rewards without restrictions, giving platforms like Coinbase an advantage.

The SEC and CFTC are already taking initiatives to bring clarity to the industry, which could benefit crypto companies in the long run. Hougan thinks that regulators will soon introduce comprehensive rules, providing a more favorable environment for the industry.
