Clarity Act Heads for Senate Vote Amid Stablecoin Interest and Ethics Concerns
The Clarity Act is set to receive a cloture vote in the Senate, requiring at least seven votes from outside the Republican party. This comes after over a year of bipartisan negotiations and more than 100 requested changes by Democrats.
Republican Senator Lummis said that it's time for the Senate to move forward with the bill, calling it 'strong and bipartisan.' However, some of the wording is contentious, particularly regarding ethics and stablecoin interest provisions.
The Act has undergone several changes, but critics argue that many of the Trump family's crypto activities could still occur under the new rules. This includes using blind trusts or ensuring that certain crypto activity does not comprise a company's largest source of revenue.
