CLARITY Act Hopes Hang in Balance as US Senate Faces Deadline

Share

The CLARITY Act is at a critical juncture in the US Senate as lawmakers face a tight deadline before their August recess. The bill, which aims to provide regulatory clarity for the crypto industry, has been met with both support and skepticism from key stakeholders.

Chris Giancarlo, former Chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), believes that the industry's focus on securing legislative approval is misplaced. He argues that innovation in the space will continue regardless of whether or not the act receives approval from Congress.

Giancarlo points to LabCFTC, an innovation program he established at the CFTC, as an example of how regulators can stay ahead of the curve. He also proposes establishing an innovation center for all US financial regulators to increase knowledge on digital assets.
