CLARITY Act Stalls as Negotiations Remain Unsettled
The CLARITY Act's future is uncertain as it needs three more senators to pass. The bill, which aims to regulate the crypto market, failed to advance in a 49-50 Senate vote on September 15.
Seven Democratic senators stated that the failed vote was not the end and expressed their willingness to continue negotiating. However, even with their support, the bill would still be short of the required 60 votes needed for cloture.
The window for passing the CLARITY Act is closing quickly, with only a few weeks left before the Senate's recess. If a revised agreement on ethics and stablecoin language can be reached before October 5, it could pave the way for reconsideration or a renewed floor attempt.
