CLARITY Act Uncertainty Deepens Ahead of Crucial Senate Vote
The CLARITY Act is facing renewed uncertainty as Senate Republicans warn that it may not have enough support to advance. According to Sen. Mike Rounds, the bill's prospects 'do not look good right now.' The disagreement centers on ethics provisions concerning President Donald Trump and his family's cryptocurrency interests.
Democrats have pushed for stronger restrictions involving Trump's crypto-related businesses, including his family's involvement with World Liberty Financial and the Trump memecoin. However, a compromise was previously sent to the White House, but its details and status remain unclear.
The Senate is expected to take up the CLARITY Act on September 15, beginning with a procedural vote. The bill would still need to clear additional Senate procedures and eventually reconcile with the House before becoming law.
