CLARITY Act Vote Looms Large in US Senate
Today, September 15th, is a crucial day for the CLARITY Act in the US Senate. The bill aims to provide comprehensive regulation for the digital asset industry and has been a topic of debate among lawmakers. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent defended both the Bitcoin Reserve and the CLARITY Act, stating that its passage would give Treasury more authority to tackle evasion.
According to TD Cowen's analysis, there is a 60% chance that the Senate cloture vote on the CLARITY Act will fail today. However, Senator Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) announced his support for the bill, saying he was 'very pleased' with the White House's delivery on ethics provisions.
Galaxy CEO Mike Novogratz warned that if the CLARITY Act fails to advance, comprehensive crypto regulation could be off the table for years. He emphasized that prolonged regulatory uncertainty is bad for the industry and urged senators to consider the long-term implications.
