Clarity Act's Chances Dimmed as Senate Puts Off Vote Until September
The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act's chances of becoming law this year have taken a hit after Senate Majority Leader John announced that the bill will not receive a procedural vote in August. The decision gives lawmakers more time to resolve outstanding issues, but it also means that the bill's future remains uncertain.
The delay was likely due to the many unresolved issues surrounding the bill, including concerns about President Donald Trump's crypto business ties and debates about stablecoin yields and rewards. These issues had been holding up progress on the bill for months, with some lawmakers expressing concerns as far back as May 2025 during negotiations on the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act (GENIUS Act).
The Clarity Act's fate is now uncertain, but it seems clear that a vote would not have been successful even if one had been held in August. The bill may still have a chance when lawmakers return in mid-September, but its prospects remain dim.
