Claude AI Exposes Hundreds of Private Conversations Due to Conversation-Sharing Feature
A recent incident exposed hundreds of private conversations on Claude AI, a conversational AI platform. The exposed chats were never intended to be shared publicly and included sensitive information such as personal health details, company documents, and cryptocurrency passwords.
The exposure was not caused by a cyberattack or security breach but rather due to the platform's conversation-sharing feature, which allows users to generate public links to individual chats. However, many users were unaware that these publicly shared conversations could be indexed by search engines, making them discoverable through targeted online searches.
The incident occurred when people applied a site-specific search operator to claude.ai/share directories, revealing hundreds of conversations across multiple pages. Some of the exposed conversations contained adult material and discussions about cybersecurity.
