Former SEC Chair Jay Clayton has been appointed as President Trump's AI Czar, tasked with heading a new 'Super Intelligence Force'.

Clayton will spend the next 120 days assessing AI's risks and opportunities, having previously left the SEC just before it sued Ripple over XRP.

During his tenure as SEC Chair, Clayton expressed optimistic views on the potential of digital assets, predicting in 2022 that they would become part of global financial infrastructure.

He also forecasted in 2023 that programmable assets and interoperability would arrive, both of which have since become a reality in the form of regulatory classification shifts.

The SEC and CFTC now treat several major crypto assets as digital commodities rather than securities.
