Clayton Tapped to Lead White House AI Task Force Amid Regulatory Fears
Jay Clayton, the former Director of National Intelligence, has been appointed as the leader of the 'Super Intelligence Force,' a White House task force focused on the risks and opportunities associated with advanced artificial intelligence.
The task force, which includes senior administration officials and outside advisers, has been given 120 days to prepare its findings and deliver a report on AI risks, opportunities, and federal responses.
Clayton's appointment has raised memories of his tenure as SEC chairman, particularly the landmark lawsuit against Ripple over XRP. However, there is currently no indication that the Super Intelligence Force has been created to address cryptocurrency regulation or digital-asset markets.
The task force's mandate comes as the Trump administration attempts to balance two competing priorities: limiting potentially dangerous uses of AI while avoiding regulations that could slow U.S. technological development.
