CleanSpark Lands Meta as Data Center Tenant, Seeks $2.2B Raise
CleanSpark, a company transitioning from Bitcoin mining into AI and high-performance computing infrastructure, has disclosed that Meta Platforms' subsidiary Anviran LLC will be leasing its 175-megawatt Sandersville AI campus. The lease is for 20 years, with expected contracted payments of about $6.6 billion and average annual net operating income of roughly $330 million.
The company plans to raise more than $2.2 billion through the sale of senior secured notes due 2031 to fund the remaining construction of its data center facility at Sandersville, Georgia, and reimburse CleanSpark for equity contributions in the project.
CleanSpark's investor presentation on Thursday showed that the lease will guarantee rent and operating expenses, with a 3% annual rent increase. The company first announced the data center lease agreement in July but did not specify the tenant at the time.
