Clearpool Expands to XRP Ledger with 97% Vote but XRP Demand Remains Unclear
Clearpool has received overwhelming support for its expansion to the XRP Ledger, with 97.16% of holders voting in favor of the move. This includes a one-for-one conversion of the CPOOL token to the new CLEAR token, set to take place in the fourth quarter of 2026. The migration aims to enhance institutional credit infrastructure on the XRP Ledger, though the primary lending product will use the RLUSD stablecoin rather than XRP for transactions.
Despite the strong vote, the distinction between RLUSD usage and XRP demand is significant. Clearpool’s institutional credit product will lend and repay in RLUSD, meaning borrowers won’t need to hold XRP, which could limit direct demand for the token. The migration is expected to increase activity on the XRP Ledger but may not translate into substantial price movement for XRP itself.
As of October 5, 2026, XRP was trading at approximately $1.51, up 0.8% over 24 hours and 1.9% over seven days. Clearpool has partnered with Ripple and Cicada Partners to facilitate loans, primarily targeting fintechs and payment processors. Since 2021, Clearpool has processed over $930 million in loans, while Cicada has underwritten more than $860 million.
The expansion is part of a broader push toward institutional credit on the XRP Ledger, but the current product design focuses on stablecoin transactions rather than XRP. While the migration could boost network utility, investors should be cautious about assuming direct benefits for XRP’s price without further integration of the token into Clearpool’s lending mechanisms.
