Clearpool Migrates to XRP Ledger With 97% Community Approval
Clearpool holders have overwhelmingly approved a migration from Ethereum-based CPOOL to XRP Ledger-based CLEAR, with 97.16% support. The move strengthens XRPL’s institutional credit offerings and is part of a broader push to expand lending functionality on the ledger. The planned loans will use RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, rather than XRP, which will primarily be used for small transaction fees.
The migration, expected to launch in Q4 2026, will see each CPOOL token exchanged for one CLEAR token, with an anticipated circulation of approximately 1.1 billion tokens. Clearpool’s institutional credit strategy already involves Ripple and other partners, including a credit fund established in August 2026. The expansion aims to deepen XRPL’s use but does not necessarily translate to increased demand for XRP.
As of the announcement, XRP was trading near $1.50, roughly 50% lower over the preceding year and 59% below its July 2025 all-time high of $3.65. Clearpool’s fee design directs half of its protocol fees toward buying back and burning CLEAR, further distinguishing it from XRP’s role in the transactions. While the migration could boost XRPL adoption, it does not guarantee a near-term repricing of XRP.
The article notes that for XRPL news and adoption to become a stronger catalyst for XRP, loan activity would need to start using XRP as collateral or generate material demand for XRP liquidity. Until then, the distinction between adoption headlines and actual token demand remains key for traders.
