Clearpool Migrates to XRP Ledger with New CLEAR Token
Clearpool, an institutional credit marketplace, has officially decided to move its operations to the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The project's community overwhelmingly approved the transition, with 97.16% voting in favor. This move marks a significant expansion for Clearpool, as it prepares to replace its native CPOOL token with a new asset called CLEAR. The alliance with Ripple will focus on on-chain lending backed by real-world assets, distinguishing it from traditional DeFi protocols that rely on volatile crypto collateral.
The deal involves a pragmatic structure where Clearpool provides the technology and smart contracts, while Cicada Partners handles borrower audits and risk underwriting. Ripple will participate as a limited partner. Financing will be conducted exclusively in the dollar stablecoin RLUSD (Ripple USD), marking its first organic circulation among institutional investors. Hex Trust, a longtime Ripple partner, will ensure security and compliance for the arrangement.
The 1:1 token migration to CLEAR is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The new token will have an initial supply of 1.125 billion, up from CPOOL's previous supply of one billion. To protect investors from dilution, 70% of the new supply will be distributed to current holders at launch. The remaining supply will be balanced through a deflationary mechanism, where half of all platform fees will be used to buy back and burn CLEAR tokens.
The technological foundation relies on XRPL's native standards, XLS-65 (regulated single-asset pools) and XLS-66 (an unsecured lending protocol). These amendments are currently being tested on Devnet and await approval from 80% of validators before full deployment on the mainnet. The market has already reacted positively, with CPOOL breaking out of a year-long accumulation range and reaching $0.036554. The bullish momentum has pushed the price above the medium-term moving average, turning it into a strong support level.
