Clearpool Migrates Token to XRP Ledger in 97% Vote
Clearpool, a private credit platform, has overwhelmingly voted to migrate its token to the XRP Ledger, a move that could signal growth for Ripple's ecosystem. On October 5, 2026, Clearpool announced that 97% of its token holders approved the transition from the CPOOL token on Ethereum to the new CLEAR token on the XRP Ledger. The swap is expected to occur in the fourth quarter of this year, with approximately 1.1 billion CLEAR tokens set to circulate at launch.
Despite the migration, the role of XRP in Clearpool's operations remains limited. Loans on the platform settle in RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-pegged stablecoin, with XRP primarily serving as transaction fees. Clearpool also plans to allocate half of its protocol fees toward buying back and burning CLEAR tokens, benefiting CLEAR holders rather than XRP investors.
XRP has seen a significant decline over the past year, dropping 50% in value and trading 59% below its all-time high of $3.65 reached in July 2025. The cryptocurrency's market cap stands at about $95 billion, requiring substantial new demand to move its price. While the migration to the XRP Ledger may boost network activity, it does not directly translate to increased demand for XRP.
The institutional credit fund managed by Clearpool, Ripple, and Cicada Partners aims to lend to fintech companies, payment processors, and cryptocurrency firms. Ripple serves as a limited partner, providing capital without managing the fund. Despite the potential for increased activity on the XRP Ledger, the impact on the XRP price remains uncertain.
