Clearpool Migrates Token to XRP Ledger in Major Network Shift
Clearpool, a decentralized lending platform, has taken a major step by moving its token from Ethereum to the XRP Ledger. On October 5, 2026, Clearpool token holders voted overwhelmingly, with 97% approval, to transition their CPOOL token to a new CLEAR token on the XRP Ledger. This swap, expected to occur in the fourth quarter of 2026, will replace each CPOOL token one-for-one with CLEAR, resulting in approximately 1.1 billion CLEAR tokens in circulation.
Clearpool specializes in private credit, offering loans to businesses outside traditional banking systems. Since 2021, the platform has facilitated over $930 million in institutional loans. Despite this significant shift, the XRP price has barely reacted, trading at $1.51 as of October 5, up just 0.8% over the past 24 hours and 1.9% over the last week.
The move to the XRP Ledger aligns with Clearpool’s existing partnership with Ripple, which manages an institutional credit fund on the network. However, loans within this fund are issued in RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, rather than XRP. This means that while the XRP Ledger benefits from increased activity, the primary financial incentive for holding XRP remains limited to network fees, which are burned (removed from circulation).
Despite the network’s growth, XRP has faced challenges, falling 50% over the past year and trading about 59% below its all-time high of $3.65 reached in July 2025. The cryptocurrency’s large market cap and circulating supply mean that significant demand is needed to drive price movements. For now, Clearpool’s transition may boost Ripple’s network activity but is unlikely to provide a direct price boost for XRP holders.
