Cloudflare Sees Sharding as Path to Internet-Scale Payment Capacity
Cloudflare is developing payment products and exploring blockchain infrastructure for stablecoin micropayments. According to Will Papper, Cloudflare's director of product for agent payments, Ethereum's original sharding plan could provide a path to internet-scale payment capacity.
Papper noted that shard chains are difficult for decentralized finance because the same asset can trade at different prices across separate chains. However, payments avoid this issue because a dollar remains a dollar when transferred.
Cloudflare is considering launching its own blockchain and has invited teams working on horizontally scalable blockchain solutions to contact Papper. The company's Monetization Gateway for sellers and Wallets for buyers are set to go live soon.
