Cluster Protocol is an AI-infrastructure orchestration layer on Base that gives developers and autonomous agents a single interface for model inference, GPU compute, tokenized datasets, and machine-native settlement through x402 payment rails.
The protocol's core problem statement is operational fragmentation: AI applications typically depend on separate model hosts, cloud-GPU providers, data vendors, billing systems, and access-control layers. Autonomous agents need these services to be callable and payable without manual subscription setup.
Cluster Protocol does not operate its own blockchain or consensus protocol but instead uses the Base chain for token settlement. The $CP token is an ERC-20 token deployed natively on Base, and staking CP does not participate in block production or involve slashing or delegation.
The project's narrative has evolved from a broad decentralized-AI framing into a more specific Base-native orchestration and settlement stack.
