CMB International Tokenizes $3.8 Billion Fund on BNB Chain
CMB International Asset Management has teamed up with BNB Chain to tokenize its $3.8 billion money market fund, marking a significant step in bridging traditional finance and blockchain technology. The collaboration introduces two tokens, CMBMINT and CMBIMINT, representing the CMB International USD Money Market Fund on the blockchain. This initiative expands on a previous partnership with Singapore-based platform DigiFT, which tokenized the same fund on Solana in August.
The fund, which has shown steady growth since its launch in early 2024, increased its assets under management by 24% from $2.9 billion in April to $3.6 billion by August. It is ranked as the top-performing fund among Asia-Pacific peers in Bloomberg's rankings as of October 2025. The fund primarily invests in USD-denominated short-term deposits and high-quality money market instruments issued by governments and top financial institutions across various regions.
Investors can now subscribe to the tokenized fund using fiat currencies or stablecoins and redeem their holdings in real time through DigiFT's smart contracts. Adam Bai, Head of CMB International Asset Management, highlighted that the partnership leverages BNB Chain's infrastructure to extend money market strategies to a broader investor base while maintaining security and compliance. The tokenization effort involves OnChain, enabling investors to use the tokens across decentralized finance applications like Venus Protocol and ListaDAO.
BNB Chain's ecosystem continues to grow its RWA (real-world asset) infrastructure, uniting traditional financial institutions with tokenization platforms and DeFi protocols. Key participants include Franklin Templeton, Ondo, and Securitize for issuance, while other protocols enable RWA-backed swapping, borrowing, and staking. Sarah, Head of Business Development at BNB Chain, described the collaboration as another milestone in the platform's journey to become the tokenization layer for all assets.
