CME Adds BCH and UNI Futures Contracts to Expanding Crypto Offerings
CME Group is set to expand its cryptocurrency futures offerings in October by adding contracts linked to Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI). The exchange plans to launch these new products on October 19th, pending regulatory approval. The BCH contracts will have two sizes: 250 tokens and 25 tokens, while the UNI contracts will be available in 10,000 token and 1,000 token denominations.
This move comes after a period of growth in CME's cryptocurrency derivatives trading. In June, the exchange introduced daily futures and options for these assets, including weekends. The new model generated $50 million in volume and over 7,200 contracts traded in its first weekend, with an average of 279,800 contracts per day in the first six months of 2026.
Giovanni Vicioso, CME's head of cryptocurrency products, stated that the expansion meets the evolving needs of market participants. 'As cryptocurrency markets continue to mature, participants need more comprehensive and regulated tools to deal with the evolving price risks related to digital assets,' he said. The new BCH and UNI contracts are designed for greater versatility and capital efficiency, allowing clients to manage price risk and gain exposure to major cryptocurrency networks.
