Coin Center Prepares for Battle Amid Crypto Industry Woes
The crypto industry is reeling from the collapse of the Clarity Act, but experts at Coin Center believe they can help steer the sector through this transition.
Coin Center's Jason Somensatto, a former senior aide at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, thinks that if Democrats retake the White House in 2028, the group's work will become even more crucial.
Somensatto said, 'You've never had more political support in Washington for an industry. But the political enthusiasm for crypto companies is not necessarily the same thing as durable legal protections for those building the software.'
Coin Center has a unique role in crypto policy as a digital asset nonprofit without allegiance to any specific player or part of the crypto industry.
The group argues that the core philosophical essence of crypto, conducting financial activity without intermediation, should be championed by pointing to the First and Fourth Amendments.
Somensatto noted, 'This DOJ has clearly come in, and with the administration more broadly, with the idea that previous policies deserve very little deference.'
Coin Center is well-acquainted with litigation and regulation, especially when it comes to decentralized finance liability. Expect plenty of action there in the weeks ahead.
