Coin Metrics Overhauls 19 Months of Bitcoin ETF Data
Coin Metrics has corrected over 19 months of on-chain data related to Bitcoin ETFs. The revision affects daily and hourly series, covering the period from February 7, 2025 to September 17, 2026.
The correction impacts 35 daily series and 25 hourly series, including deposit and withdrawal counts, transfer numbers, and transactions. These figures measure activity involving blockchain addresses identified by Coin Metrics as ETF-owned.
Coin Metrics' methodology defines an ETF deposit as assets sent to an identified ETF address during a specified interval. The company's PriceUSD metric is used to calculate dollar-denominated deposits from native-unit flows.
The revision does not provide before-and-after values, aggregate differences, or percentage changes. It also does not indicate whether the revised figures generally increased or decreased.
