Coinbase Adds Fixed-Rate Borrowing Option Using USDC as Collateral
Coinbase users can now borrow USDC against Bitcoin at a fixed rate. The move is designed to provide more flexibility and accessibility for investors.
The stablecoin, pegged to the value of the US dollar, will be available as collateral for loans against Bitcoin on Coinbase's platform. This development aims to cater to traders who may need liquidity or want to leverage their Bitcoin holdings without having to sell them outright.
This new feature has been made possible due to Coinbase's integration with Compound Finance, a decentralized lending protocol that facilitates borrowing and lending of cryptocurrencies. The partnership enables users to borrow USDC at a fixed rate, eliminating the uncertainty associated with variable interest rates.
