Coinbase Brings 290+ Perpetual Markets to Base App via Hyperliquid
Coinbase has expanded its Base App to include over 290 perpetual contract markets through Hyperliquid, allowing eligible users to trade with up to 50x leverage. This integration gives traders access to Bitcoin, Ethereum, and contracts tied to stocks and commodities, though the available leverage varies by market.
The arrangement keeps the trading interface within the Base App while relying on Hyperliquid's infrastructure for order execution. Coinbase did not disclose whether it receives a share of trading fees or pays Hyperliquid for order execution. Perpetual contracts let traders take long or short positions on an asset without buying the underlying instrument.
Coinbase Head of Engineering Chintan Turakhia described Hyperliquid as one of the highest-performance on-chain perpetual trading protocols, citing its liquidity and execution speed. He noted that this integration lets users 'tap into its deep liquidity and speed without ever leaving their existing wallet.'
