Coinbase Brings Blockchain-Based Securities to Four Billion People in Abu Dhabi
Coinbase has secured a financial services license in Abu Dhabi and is establishing an international tokenization hub at the Abu Dhabi Global Market.
This move aims to bring traditional assets such as stocks onto the blockchain, making it possible for four billion people worldwide who lack access to capital markets to participate in investments using just a single wallet.
The license from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority provides Coinbase with the regulatory foundation and infrastructure to facilitate investment transactions and provide custodial services, enabling the launch of tokenized securities.
Brett Tejpaul, Co-Head of Institutional Business at Coinbase, stated that the Abu Dhabi Global Market released one of the world's first regulatory frameworks for virtual assets in 2018, reflecting a genuine institutional commitment to fostering innovation-driven regulation.
