Coinbase Brings Predictable Loans to Crypto Market
Coinbase has launched fixed-rate loans backed by Bitcoin via Morpho, expanding its credit offerings. The new product enables users to lock in interest rates and repayment schedules at origination, providing an alternative to floating-rate credit.
The integration builds upon Coinbase's existing variable-rate product powered by Morpho Blue, which maintains over $1.4 billion in active loans backed by nearly $3 billion in collateral. The move aims to provide predictable capital costs for traders and institutional participants.
Morpho Midnight currently holds roughly $30 million in deposits during its rollout, while the broader Morpho network manages over $5.2 billion in outstanding loans and $16 billion in deposits across all integrations. Paul Frambot, co-founder and CEO of Morpho, said that they are now building on that foundation and starting to scale new loan types and use cases.
