Coinbase Brings US Equities to UK Users with New Trading Service

Coinbase has launched a new service for eligible UK customers, allowing them to trade US stocks on its platform. The rollout starts on August 6 and gives users access to nearly 4,000 American equities.

The service offers commission-free trading and fractional shares from £1, and users can fund stock purchases using British pounds or USDC. This move is part of Coinbase's 'Everything Exchange' strategy, which aims to make investing simpler for customers who already use its crypto platform.

Coinbase received approval to offer stock trading in the UK last month and plans to introduce tokenized stocks later, which may track US shares and include rights such as dividend payments. However, these products are not part of the current launch.
