Coinbase CEO Accuses WSJ of 'Hostile' Coverage Over CLARITY Act
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has fired back at The Wall Street Journal over their recent publications on the CLARITY Act, accusing them of being 'hostile' towards the bill. Armstrong's criticism comes after the Senate recently rejected the crypto regulation legislation.
Armstrong alleged that the Journal is working on a story that portrays him as partly responsible for the Senate's failure to pass the bill. He claimed that the publication has consistently published reports reflecting the views of banks opposed to the CLARITY Act, which he believes is a scheme against Coinbase and himself.
Armstrong shared his backstory with the CLARITY Act, revealing that he had initially opposed an earlier version of the bill due to concerns over DeFi, tokenization, CFTC authority, and stablecoin rewards. However, after working with other stakeholders to improve the legislation, he praised the final version of the bill as fit for passage by the Senate.
