Coinbase CEO Arms Against AI Doomers: Progress Over Safety Concerns

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has responded to concerns about the risks of artificial intelligence (AI), arguing that slowing down progress could lead to more preventable deaths.

Armstrong addressed AI safety concerns in a post on X, saying that people already face significant risks from existing causes of death. He cited 165,000+ daily deaths due to cancer, heart disease, illnesses, and car crashes.

The CEO argued that AI could help address some of these challenges through advances in healthcare and other technologies. 'AI is helping us solve these,' he wrote. 'Slowing progress doesn’t keep us safer, it guarantees more preventable deaths.'
