Coinbase CEO Armstrong Sees Crypto Regulation on Horizon Despite Clarity Act Hurdles
Crypto regulation is on the horizon for the U.S., according to Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase. He expects digital asset regulatory frameworks to be established soon.
Armstrong expressed optimism about the Clarity Act's chances in the Senate, stating that 'People I've spoken with are in agreement on the bill.' The act aims to establish a federal regulatory framework for the U.S. digital asset market by more clearly delineating the oversight authority of the SEC and CFTC.
The bill passed the House of Representatives last July, but securing the 60 votes needed for Senate passage is a key challenge. Negotiations are currently underway, particularly concerning ethics provisions.
Even if the Clarity Act fails to pass, Armstrong believes regulatory clarity can still be achieved through subsequent rulemaking by the SEC and CFTC.
