Armstrong cited the Ford Foundation as an example, suggesting that its founder, Henry Ford, would be unhappy with its current activities. He also mentioned Bill Gates, implying that Gates's philanthropic efforts may be motivated by a desire to repair his public image.

Despite this criticism, Armstrong does engage in charitable giving through a donor-advised fund. However, he has refused to establish a traditional foundation, citing concerns over losing control and influence over the organization.
