Coinbase Cleared to Clear with New DCO Status

Coinbase Clearing LLC has received registration as a derivatives clearing organization (DCO) from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

This approval allows Coinbase to clear fully collateralized futures, options on futures, and swaps.

The company's new structure combines its existing broker, exchange, and clearinghouse under one group, which includes Coinbase Financial Markets with FCM status, Coinbase Derivatives exchange with DCM status, and now Coinbase Clearing with DCO status.

Coinbase will support 24/7 settlement in USDC, using the stablecoin as collateral for its clearing operations.
