The company recently secured approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to register Coinbase Clearing as a derivatives clearinghouse. This approval allows for USDC-collateralized clearing of futures, options on futures, and swaps, with 24/7 settlement capabilities.
Analysts have responded positively to these developments. Keefe Bruyette & Woods (KBW) reinstated coverage on Coinbase with an Outperform rating and a price target of $237. Robert W. Baird raised its price target to $205, maintaining a Neutral rating. Wells Fargo initiated coverage with an Equal-Weight rating and a $200 price target.
Coinbase's shares have surged approximately 36% from their year-to-date low on February 12, 2026, aligning with Bitcoin's rebound. The company has also expanded its stablecoin payments through a partnership with Moov, aiming to integrate stablecoin use into traditional payment rails for over 1,000 U.S. community banks and credit unions. Additionally, Coinbase responded to the EU MiCA consultation, highlighting over 50,000 European responses advocating for regulated stablecoins to offer cashback and loyalty rewards.
On the operational front, Chief Accounting Officer Jennifer Jones announced her retirement but will remain in her post until a successor is named to ensure a smooth transition. Coinbase also participated in a funding round for Raven, valuing the institutional market-making platform at $90 million pre-money.
