Coinbase Clearinghouse Clears CFTC Hurdle

Instruments
USDC STRD

Coinbase has made significant strides in its derivatives infrastructure after receiving CFTC registration for Coinbase Clearing LLC, making it the first USDC-native clearinghouse in the United States. This approval completes what Coinbase has been building toward for years: a full-stack, CFTC-regulated derivatives platform under one roof.

The clearinghouse uses USDC as collateral with 24/7 settlement, designed to support always-on regulated derivatives markets. It is registered to handle fully collateralized futures, options on futures, and swaps, all settled 24/7, which is operationally efficient and purpose-built for markets that do not close on weekends.

Coinbase Financial Markets, Inc. serves as the Futures Commission Merchant, while Coinbase Derivatives, LLC operates as the Designated Contract Market. The new clearinghouse sits at the center of it all, handling clearing and settlement natively in USDC with 24/7 availability.
