Coinbase Clears Path to 24/7 Derivatives Trading with USDC-Native Clearinghouse Approval
Coinbase has expanded its U.S. derivatives facility after receiving approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to operate as a Derivatives Clearing Organization.
The CFTC approved Coinbase Clearing LLC on September 28, allowing it to clear fully secured commodity futures and options contracts, as well as commodity swaps within its existing regulated commodities business.
Coinbase Clearing will offer clearing services for products for which it is registered, establishing itself as the first USDC-native clearinghouse. It will allow customers to settle trades around the clock using USDC collateral.
