Coinbase Ethereum Validators Dominate Network in Q2 2026 with Near-Perfect Uptime
Coinbase's Ethereum validators outperformed the network in Q2 2026, boasting a 99.97% uptime compared to the network average of 99.76%. According to Coinbase's Q2 Ethereum Validator Performance Report, the company's validators generated an average annual percentage yield (APY) of 2.87%, surpassing the broader Ethereum network's 2.80% APY.
Coinbase attributed its success to a diversified validator network, which aims to mitigate infrastructure concentration risks. The exchange operates validators across four countries, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, and Singapore, with multiple availability zones in each region. Its infrastructure is also spread across two cloud providers, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.
The company's strategy includes client and relay diversity, operating two Ethereum consensus clients (Lighthouse and Prysm) alongside three execution clients (Nethermind, Reth, and Geth). Coinbase connects its validators to seven MEV relays, offering OFAC screening as an option for customers requiring transaction filtering.
Coinbase is preparing its validator infrastructure for the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade, expected in the second half of 2026. The company highlighted several proposals expected to shape the upgrade, including enshrined proposer-builder separation (ePBS) and block-level access lists.
