Coinbase Exits Michigan Sports Betting Market Amid Regulatory Dispute

Share

Coinbase has announced that it will stop offering sports wagering in Michigan due to ongoing lawsuits. The company operates its prediction market platform through a partnership with Kalshi Inc. and had been offering 'event contracts' related to sports. However, Coinbase stated that it would cease this activity by October 10.

The decision comes after a court filing on Monday, which also mentioned an agreement between Coinbase and Michigan officials. According to the filing, the state will hold off on taking regulatory action against Coinbase as long as the company complies with the agreement, pending a federal judge's approval.
