Coinbase Expands AI Agent Services with Stock Trading and x402 Payments
Coinbase has expanded its services for AI agents through its 'Coinbase for Agents' platform, adding stock and ETF trading as well as support for x402 payments.
The company announced this week that it will allow AI agents to trade over 6,000 US stocks and ETFs through the platform, with prices starting at $1 per share. The trades can be executed 24/7, five days a week.
Coinbase also introduced support for x402 payments, which enable AI agents to purchase live market data on the fly from their USDC balance on Coinbase.
This development aims to make it easier for users to use AI agents to execute complex trading strategies that involve accessing and analyzing market data in real-time. For example, an AI agent could use x402 to purchase data on analyst sentiment or option flow, and then use that information to execute trades based on specific conditions.
Coinbase sees this as a key step towards creating an 'Everything Exchange' for AI agents, where they can access a wide range of financial services and execute complex trading strategies with ease.
