Coinbase Expands Base Platform with Six New Tokenized Equities
Coinbase has added six new tokenized equities to its Base platform, including Amazon (AMZNc), Microsoft (MSFTc), Strategy (MSTRc), SanDisk (SNDKc), SpaceX (SPCXc), and Tesla (TSLAc). These tokens join the initial four-stock lineup on Base, which debuted on August 24. The new additions give eligible investors exposure to five publicly traded companies and privately held SpaceX through tokens that can move across supported applications on the Ethereum layer-2 network.
The $227.7 million in decentralized exchange volume recorded by Token Terminal over 30 days suggests strong demand for Coinbase's tokenized stocks. This is a significant milestone, considering the first batch of four assets generated substantial trading activity. The addition of these new tokens brings the live lineup to ten and expands Coinbase's range beyond the initial four assets.
Eligible users can keep Coinbase's stock tokens in self-custodial wallets and trade them outside regular Nasdaq or New York Stock Exchange hours. Onchain markets can remain open overnight, on weekends, and during U.S. market holidays. The setup allows token holders to connect with supported decentralized finance applications, including Aerodrome for trading liquidity and Aave, Morpho, and Euler for lending and borrowing functions.
