Coinbase Expands in Singapore with 25% Staff Hike

Share

Coinbase is expanding its presence in Singapore and plans to increase its headcount by 25% over the next few years. The cryptocurrency exchange currently has about 150 staff members in the city-state, but aims to hire around 50 more employees.

The new hires will be primarily engineers, customer service representatives, relationship management staff, and institutional sales representatives for Coinbase's Singapore office, which was opened at One Raffles Quay on Wednesday. According to Hassan Ahmed, Coinbase’s country director for Singapore, the city-state is becoming increasingly important for cryptocurrency innovation.

Singapore has granted Coinbase a major payment institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), allowing it to expand its services to individuals and institutions in the city-state. The MAS has also tightened licensing requirements in 2025, pushing unlicensed firms out of the market.
