Coinbase Expands into Traditional Equities with 24/5 US Stock Trading in UK
Coinbase has launched 24/5 trading in nearly 4,000 US stocks for eligible UK users, allowing them to buy and sell American equities with zero-commission trades. The crypto exchange claims this move is a step towards its 'Everything Exchange' vision.
Users can start trading stocks with as little as £1, and instant funding is available via GBP or USDC. Coinbase positions itself as the first crypto-native app to offer U.S. equities in the UK.
The launch comes after Coinbase secured a MiFID investment services license from the Financial Conduct Authority, enabling UK users to trade derivatives and equities alongside crypto assets.
COIN stock jumped following the announcement, despite previously warning of a potential drop to $139 due to market risks amid high leverage.
