Coinbase Institutional Swells with $171M in New BTC Transfer
A significant Bitcoin transaction has taken place, with 2,269 BTC worth over $171 million being transferred from an unknown wallet to Coinbase Institutional.
This move comes as part of a larger trend, as Coinbase Institutional has been receiving large batches of Bitcoin throughout the year. In June, it received around 2,537 BTC, followed by 2,874 BTC in July and another 2,024 BTC in early September.
The sending wallet's identity remains unknown, which is common for transactions of this size due to concerns about privacy. Major holders often cycle through fresh addresses to maintain anonymity.
Coinbase Institutional serves as a custody and trading venue for heavyweight clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, and corporate treasuries. When Bitcoin moves to this destination, it typically signals preparation for trading, a shift in custodial arrangements, or activity on an over-the-counter desk.
