Coinbase Launches Live Crypto Price Prediction Markets for US Users
Coinbase has introduced live crypto price prediction markets for US users, allowing them to bet on short-term price movements. The feature, launched on October 6, 2026, lets users make yes-or-no predictions on where crypto prices are headed, sometimes within just 15 minutes. These binary event contracts are available alongside regular buy and sell options, making Coinbase a platform where users can hold Bitcoin and simultaneously wager on its price movements.
The contracts are simple to use. Users select an asset, choose a timeframe, and predict whether the price will go up or down. If the prediction is correct, the contract pays $1; if wrong, it pays $0. The prices of these contracts reflect crowd-implied probabilities, with a contract trading near 70 cents suggesting a 70% chance of that outcome. Supported assets include BTC, ETH, SOL, and BNB, with durations starting at 15 minutes.
Positions can be funded with either USD or USDC, and traders can run these bets in real time alongside their existing holdings on Coinbase. The product is offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, a CFTC and NFA member, ensuring regulatory oversight. However, the markets are not available in all states, with Nevada being one exception.
This is not Coinbase’s first foray into prediction markets. The company initially rolled out markets powered by Kalshi on December 17, 2025, covering categories like sports and politics. The nationwide expansion of this offering was completed by late January 2026. The move aligns with Coinbase’s broader strategy to offer multiple trading products under one roof, enhancing user engagement and providing a new lane for active trading.
