Coinbase has launched a new prediction market allowing users to trade contracts on the outcome of the Atlanta vs. New York event. The market, titled "Atlanta vs New York: Second Half Spread," will expire by October 10, 2026, or when the event's outcome is determined. The current interest in the contract stands at $11,699.08, with a total trading volume of $24,000.
The market operates on a "Yes/No" basis, where each contract pays $1 if the event occurs and $0 if it does not. The price of the contract reflects the market's odds, with buyers placing bets on whether the event will happen or not. Users can profit if their prediction is correct, minus the cost of the contract and any fees.
Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), a regulated derivatives entity, oversees the trading. Users need a Coinbase account and must complete onboarding, including identity verification and basic financial details, to participate. Trading is available 24/7, except during weekly maintenance windows from Thursday 3:00-5:00 am ET.
The platform emphasizes transparency, with each market's rules and settlement policies clearly stated. Settlement is based on an independent, regulated exchange's determination using a specified "source of truth," such as official data or market prices. Payouts occur after settlement, though delays may happen on weekends, holidays, or during result confirmation.
