Coinbase Launches Prediction Market for Central Michigan vs Ohio Game
Coinbase has launched a new prediction market centered on the outcome of the Central Michigan vs Ohio game. This market allows users to trade contracts on the event, with each contract paying out $1 if the predicted outcome occurs and $0 if it does not. The price of each contract reflects the market's odds of the event happening.
The market will close and expire when the game's outcome is determined or by October 12, 2026, at 7:30 PM GMT+0, whichever comes first. Users can buy 'Yes' contracts if they believe the event will happen or 'No' contracts if they think it will not. Profits are calculated based on the difference between the payout and the initial purchase price, minus any fees.
To participate, users need a Coinbase account and must complete onboarding with Coinbase Financial Markets (CFM), including identity verification and providing basic income/net worth details. Funds from the main Coinbase account can be used to trade, and settlement transfers may be delayed on U.S. bank holidays, weekends, or outside banking hours.
Trading is prohibited for current players, coaches, staff, paid employees of the league, team owners, and individuals with material, non-public information. The market operates 24/7, except during weekly maintenance windows from Thursday 3:00-5:00 am ET.
